Palazzo Cardinal Cesi is a distinctive small hotel. Positioned a stone's throw from St.Peter's Square, there is little indication that it is even a hotel. Yet step beyond the doors and it is a quiet oasis away from the hubbub that is Via della Conciliazione. This is a relaxed hotel with little or no fuss or fancy facilities, so if you need a gym or a well stocked bar or restaurant, this place is not for you. However, what it has is a calm ambience you will need after a busy day's sightseeing and exceptional staff who will greet you enthusiastically and assist you with personalised information. Claudia in particular was very helpful with restaurants and advice on transport options. The bedroom was comfortable, clean and spacious though the bathroom is compact. The minibar is free (non-alcoholic). The breakfast menu was part of the package and plentiful in options as well as a packed option for early risers. We were lucky to be staying on a Tuesday night and were given free tickets to the Pope's address in the Square on Wednesday morning which was a great unexpected treat!

The location of this hotel is hard to beat--right on the edge of St Peter's square in a beautiful old palazzo, with a stunning little courtyard inside, which was enchanting in the evenings when it was lit up--we were also directed to their sister hotel for aperitivo on a rooftop terrace overlooking the Vatican, which was really lovely (though a little pricey). The rooms were comfortable but un-flashy, but spotlessly clean and well serviced, quiet and restful. It felt so private and quiet--a real haven in busy Rome--but also so central and convenient! The breakfast was delicious--absolutely everything you could want including a cooked English breakfast with scrambled eggs, or Italian pastries (which were fresh and warm) or cereal, fruit, yoghurt, ham, cheese, toast--you would be very hard to please if you couldn't find something that you liked! Staff were attentive but unobtrusive, and the reception staff exceptionally pleasant and helpful, including arranging taxis and airport transfers. A really charming hotel. The location of this hotel

It goes without saying that the location is exceptional but the real highlight of the stay was the way you were treated like a guest of the house and not just a customer. You are seated in the comfortable reception area, more like a large study, with a wonderful lady who checks you in and then escorts you to where the breakfast will be, explains that there will be black coffee available at the buffet but if you want cappuccino, etc., you ask the staff and it is freshly made. This wonderful lady then takes you back to collect your luggage , asking if you need assistance, and brings you to where the lifts are and explains were your room is and that there is always someone available to assist you, which they absolutely were. The room was well appointed and very comfortable with a well stocked fridge and coffee machine. We awoke each morning to find a sheet of beautifully headed paper with the readings and Gospel of the day printed on it, we thought that was a lovely touch.

A jewel inside Vatican City. For peregrins like me, and because I travelled with my elderly mother, this place is phenomenal because it is just a couple of steps from Basicila di San Pietro. Also, several restaurants are nearby, and places to buy souvenirs and a couple of bookshops. The palace is beautiful and quiet. The breakfast had a nice variety of choices and good coffee. Every morning, prayers and psalms were left under the door <3 And they gave us all the information about the services and mass dates/hours during our stays. They also offered information about tours and other activities in Rome.

Centrally located.. I can say it's at the main entrance of St Peter Basilica. Clean property, despite old aged property. Easy and close walk to St Peter, if you are doing Pilgrimage. Close to rows of Italian restaurants. Nearest Metro - Octaviono, maybe around 15-20 minutes straight walk. Friendly both reception staffs, I met Claudia, very helpful. I was given Papal Audience ticket on check in to hotel . Less mess to collect at the Basilica. Breakfast is reasonably good. All hotel staffs that I encountere during the stay was helpful. Will be back.
